About Your Yacht
Stormy is an Ed Monk So.
design, built by Blanchard in 1936. She came to Newport Beach on her
own bottom and was owned by Hugh Wright until purchased
about ten years ago.
Stormy is a fishing boat, and Mr. Weight was an avid member
of the Catalina Tuna Club holding many records for fish caught from the decks of Stormy. Mr. Weight and Mr. Ken Neptune of Colnett were contemporaries, with similar boats and similar fishing interests.
Stormy is now owned by
Brandon and kept at his home dock, Marina Del Rey in California.
When the boat was wooded for refinishing, a large group of numbers starting with CW.
This means that Stormy was used during the war for Coastal Watch duties and this was confirmed by Mr. Wright.
This yacht has been completely renovated including new exterior fiberglass over wood, paint and varnish, as well interior paint.
This boat is located in Dolphin Marina, Marina del Rey.
Maintained by me and Free access to my 5 person skiff with 25hp.
buy in makes you an owner of 25% of the boat. You will be on the DMV title. When you decide to leave the partnership you may resell your share or request I sell it for you, for a reasonable selling fee. All scheduling is done conveniently via Google Calendar. Each partner is guaranteed a minimum of 7 days per month to use the vessel.
Dues are /month to cover slip fee, bottom cleaning, insurance.
WHY JOIN A PARTNERSHIP RATHER THAN PURCHASE A BOAT ON MY OWN?
1. You will have a much nicer, larger boat. An individual can own a 1/4 share of a boat that is approximately 4 times what he could afford on an outright purchase.
2. Your monthly expenses for keeping the boat will be ¼ that of an outright purchase.
( v. )
3. While paying ¼ the price to buy in and ¼ the monthly expenses you can use the boat almost as much if you owned it outright. In my experience with partnerships, a partnership boat is used an average of 3-6 days per month, a bit more at the beginning. Visit any marina, even on a busy weekend, and you will see that people that own boats rarely use them. Members of this partnership only sign up for days they reasonably expect to use. This way the calendar stays wide open in case you want to use the boat spur of the moment.
NEW SAILORS WELCOME!
Current partner happy to provide basic instruction on the operation and captaining of the vessel but new partners must pass partnership on water safety test before taking the boat out on their own. This is for your own safety, the safety of the boat, and the safety of the people around you in the harbor. There is no charge for this service.
