DESCRIPTION:
Built in 1950 by Joel Johnson of Bridgeport, CT. and designed by well known architect Al Mason, this 24’ Ostkust Class sloop is cedar planked on clear white oak backbone and frames. All new standing and running rigging (original bronze turnbuckles fine). All new Doug Pope main + 150% genoa + two spinnakers. Used working jib in good condition. Spinnaker and Whisker pole. Roller furling for headsail. Elec and manual bilge. Two anchors + rodes. No inboard engine (but space for one). Outboard bracket stored in engine room, clips to the std deck for small outboard (not included). Present owner, Walter Wales, bought her in 2015 and has sailed her extensively, every year, including last year. He’s a Naval Architect and yacht designer who has worked for some famous names (Ted Hood etc) and lectures at Maine Maritime etc. He can answer questions on the boat and would be willing to help a new owner rig her. A well cared for, beautiful traditional sloop, in excellent condition and ready to sail (Ostkust is East Coast in Swedish). The last two pictures are not of this actual boat. She was donated to the Carpenter's Boat Shop, who are selling her. Call or text us, or better still, visit The Carpenter's Boat Shop and take a look at all the boats for sale. It’s a fascinating place that, through community living and building boats, changes a lot of lives! Be sure to select the ‘more ads by this user’ button to see other boats we are selling. We sell around 40 boats a year so check back often!
