DESCRIPTION:
Just in time for the season is a true turnkey 1978 Skipjack 24. This boat has been constantly upgraded throughout my ownership of it since 2016. It pains me to sell from all the work I have put into it, it truly is a labor of love.
This boat is powered by a freshwater cooled gas Volvo Penta AQ260 (350 block) spinning a duo prop 280 outdrive. I believe it has approximately 350 hours on it. Both the water pump and raw water pump have been replaced, the oil pan and gasket were replaced as well as the PDS bearing. It has an upgraded high torque Arco starter and the carburetor was rebuilt two months ago. Also installed is a quick flush valve system which allows the motor to be flushed while in the slip with fresh water or in an emergency, you can drop the hose into the bilge and let your motor act as a bilge pump. This boat has two bilge pumps, a small 800 gph automatic pump and a larger 1800 gph pump which is tied to a high-water alarm for a float switch. The mechanical fuel pump was replaced, and I installed a backup electric pump as well. The fuel tank was replaced about 18 months ago and was custom made by Berry’s who made the original. All thru-hulls are now bronze.
The whole boat, with the exception of the engine wiring harness has been re-wired with oversized Ancor marine grade wire with heat shrink connections and heat shrink on top of that. All loads are home runs meaning nothing is spliced into something else, every load goes directly to the fuse panel. The house bank is two Trojan T-105’s 6 volts which will give you more than enough power to sit at the island for the Seabass bite. The starting battery is a group 27. These are all charged by an on-board ProMariner 20 charger. Everything leads back to a Blue Sea Systems SafetyHub 150 which has EasyID fuses. Also installed is a Blue Sea ACR which separates the two banks while the boat is off and combines them when running.
For electronics, it has a B175HW transducer as well as a TotalScan transducer going to a Simrad Go9. The boat has a Broadband 3G radar which works great. It also has a Simrad Autopilot with the NAC 2 computer and Precision9 compass. The autopilot also has a wireless remote control which is about the size of a car key fob. It is amazing to have it around your neck while in the binos, you never have to take your eyes off the kelp or foamer, just push the button on the lanyard and the boat will turn. To make the autopilot work, the boat was switched over to hydraulic steering, it is night and day the difference in ease of steering. You can steer with one finger. The VHF is an ICOM IC-M506 with a mic up top as well as a remote mic on the cockpit level, this thing booms and transmits through a Phase III 8’ antenna. Also mounted in the cockpit is the ACR PLB.
The boat has a Blue Water 48 gallon bait tank with water flowing from an 1100 Bait Sentry on a ball valve. The washdown pump is the Jabsco 6 GPM Hotshot which has more than enough power to blast scales off. The boat is also has 25 rod holders.
For relaxing, the lighting is unreal. All lights, including navigation lights are LED, starting in the cabin there are LED reading lights in the birth as well as a white/red light which lights up the entire cabin. Moving to the radar arch, there are 4 Lumitec Caprera2’s, yes 4 of them. The first pair is white and red, the second pair is white and blue. Red to protect your night vision when you’re out, blue is nice to relax at the dock with. Under the gunnel there is Lumitec Mirage lights that can change colors. Down below the waterline, there are two Lumitec SeablazeX2’s that are white/blue. In total, there is close just in lighting. And the good part, thanks to the re-wire, when you flip a switch, they turn on.
Other modifications include the addition of a custom pulpit and stainless-steel railing, the anchor rope was upgraded to 300' 1/2" 8-plait, no more kinks and knots. Another unique upgrade is machine milled aluminum steps to get to the flybridge. I replaced these after one of the original teak ones broke. They are solid as a rock. (I am 4 bills and these don't flex at all!) There is a stainless dinghy davit on the swim step that unbolts very easily. It is only on there to give me the length I needed to qualify for the slip I wanted which was a 30’ slip, otherwise without it Alamitos was going to force me into a 25’ slip. The boat has been in the water for a year, prior to moving to the slip, all the previous bottom paint was blasted off and a brand-new Micron was professionally applied. The bottom has been cleaned monthly and zincs replaced bi-monthly as needed. This boat doesn’t need to live in the water, it can also sit on top of it’s Trailrite trailer which has had the brakes, one of the two axles, leaf springs and actuator all replaced by West Coast.
The boat was just professionally detailed last month!!!
I think you would be very hard pressed to find a boat this upgraded for this price. It is ready for its next adventure, don’t miss this opportunity!
I don’t need help selling, no lowballers or tire kickers, the only trades I am interested in is your cash for my boat. Please don’t waste my time or yours. Please note, cash is preferred, if paying by any other form like a cashiers check we will go to the bank that wrote it to cash it. The boat will not be released until there is cash on the table.
