FULL DESCRIPTION

This John Cherubini-designed cutter-rigged sloop is an incredibly solid and capable boat, designed from the ground up to be a blue-water passage maker. With over 1.5"-thick fiberglass at the waterline, it is built like a tank and sails like a dream.

This boat is equipped with a roller-furling headsail and a self-tacking, boom-mounted, roller-furling staysail, both easily controllable from the cockpit. The cutter design makes her point well upwind and makes for a flexible, safe, and easy sail in any conditions. The mast is keel-stepped. The Yanmar 30HP diesel engine has very low hours and is in great condition, starts first time, every time, in any kind of weather. Several of these boats have circumnavigated the globe.

She will sleep 6 (friendly) people, but has space, privacy, and comfort for 4. There is a spacious forward v-berth, two bunks in the dinette area, and a quarter-berth aft. There is a head with a separate shower (with a seat in it, a very nice design). The dinette area has a drop-leaf table and ample storage with built-in lockers. There is a nav station with chart table, and a functional L-shaped galley with an ice-box that passes through to the cockpit.

We lived aboard her for almost 3 years and sailed her in the bay often. It was our dream to spend several years cruising. We have maintained her well and upgraded several of the systems (complete list below). Unfortunately, health and work circumstances are taking us away from the bay area and it is now time to pass the dream on to someone else.

We had a Marine Survey performed by a licensed professional marine surveyor in September of 2015, prior to purchasing. A copy of the survey is available upon request. We have addressed most of the recommendations from the survey except the ones mentioned below.

PLEASE NOTE:
This is a clean, dry boat, ready to sail. However, there are a few things a prospective buyer should know:

– Cushions/upholstery: We have removed all mattresses and cushions (they were original to the boat). These will need to be replaced.

– Holding tank: The Type 1 MSD holding tank is aluminum, original to the vessel, and needs to be replaced. It was leaking when we bought the boat, we sealed it and never used it.

– Motor mounts: The engine motor mounts are new as of 2016, but when changing them we found that the wooden structure they bolt down to is failing and will need to be replaced.

– Batteries: The house batteries are at their end-of-life. We replaced the engine starting battery with a dual-purpose deep-cycle/starting battery and it has served us well, but if you intend to do extended off-shore camping on battery power only, you will want to replace the house battery bank.

– Stove: We removed the aging kerosene stove and have been using a small butane stove instead. However, there is a spot to install a large gimbal-mounted propane stove/oven combo if you desire.

– Trim: Several pieces of decorative trim are missing. We removed some (rather ugly) paneling and hull-liner in preparation for a full cosmetic overhaul that we were unable to start. It’s clean and ready for someone to take over.

A review of the Hunter Cherubini 37′:

We are asking . The boat is docked in Vallejo municipal marina. Please e-mail with questions or to schedule an appointment to view her.

The 2015 marine survey reports that a new vessel, comparably equipped, would cost around USD K.
