DESCRIPTION:

1984 Cape Dory Typhoon Weekender for sale. The Typhoon, “America’s Littlest Yacht”, is one of the most popular sailboats ever built. Designed by Carl Alberg, this classic daysailer features 900 lbs. of internal lead ballast, all fiberglass construction, custom bronze hardware, solid teak trim and, a comfortable cockpit. The boat is a joy to sail with the feel of a larger boat; more stable and steady than many larger designs.

When I acquired this Typhoon, it was in excellent structural condition and complete including all of the bronze hardware. A professional cosmetic restoration was completed several years ago. All of the the teak trim and hardware was removed. The boat was prepped, primed and painted by a local professional painter. Awlgrip paint was applied hull, top sides and cockpit including a flag blue boot stripe. All of the old teak trim was patterned and new AAA grade teak was fabricated and installed by a professional wooden boat builder. A new custom mahogany/maple tiller was fabricated. The spars were prepped, primed and painted and all of the running rigging was replaced. The standing rigging is original and in excellent condition and includes all of the bronze turnbuckles. The bronze deck hardware was cleaned and re-installed and includes the bronze Lewmar winches and bronze outboard motor bracket. New Schaefer deck blocks and cam cleats were installed. A Schaefer boom vang system was also added. The boat received an Interlux epoxy hull bottom barrier coat and Interlux micron bottom paint.

A new suit of dacron sails were made by a local sail loft and includes a main, 100% jib and genoa. The sails are in excellent condition and were always stored properly out of the weather. A Mercury 4 hp, four stroke, long shaft outboard motor is included. It was always stored indoors. Routine service was recently completed and it cranks and runs well. A galvanized trailer with a custom fitted cradle is also included. This trailer includes new tires, bearings and lights.

A custom, Sunbrella, full mooring cover is included that is designed for use with the boat fully rigged. In addition, another custom full storage cover is included. Both covers are in good condition.

Currently, the boat is located at the Lowcountry Maritime School in Mt. Pleasant where the bright work/teak trim is getting fresh varnish. The boat is completely restored and one of the nicest, cleanest, and most complete Typhoons that you will find. It is ready to be sailed and enjoyed. When considering the cost of new daysailers of this quality that sell for well over k, this fully restored Typhoon is a rare opportunity and a good value available for .

A portion of the proceeds from the sale will benefit the Lowcountry Maritime School. For more information contact me through boatexportusa or at 843-eight one seven-two seven four five. If it is listed, it is available. Cash only, will not respond to obvious scammers.
