Pontoon Description
For sale is my completely overhauled and refurbished 24 foot Sun Tracker and trailer.
This was a project that my dad and I completed in the summer of 2019 (motor replaced spring 2020). The boat was completely dismantled and removed from the trailer so we could refurbish from the wheels up. I used good materials and everything was done correctly by myself and my dad, who is a master carpenter and craftsman. I love this boat and we built it for me to use and love, not to resell. The only reason I’m selling it is to finance a new dream I have that matters more to me.

Trailer Frame: We ground down the paint and rust and treated with rust converter sealant and painted with Hurculiner (rhino-liner) coating. All lights replaced. New motorcycle plate (won’t hang down and break off). New retractable straps installed. Extra step welded on for ease of climbing. Completely new wheels and tires put on. Completely fresh running boards (pressure treated lumber) and outdoor carpet. New surge break actuator installed.

Note: I didn’t finish replacing the hydraulic brake system on this trailer because the boat and trailer are so light they don’t really need it. I’ve pulled it all around with my suburban and never had any difficulty stopping at all. The brake actuator is new so if you wanted to run new lines it probably wouldn’t be a big deal to install if it matters to you that much.

The boat: This boat was completely disassembled so we could take it off the trailer by hand. Every bolt and nut on the aluminum frame was replaced with new hardware. The 16 feet of the aft deck is 7 layer marine grade plywood. Installed 80 mil marine grade vinyl flooring I purchased from a surplus dealer, I believe it’s from a color change that Bennington made. 50 mil is standard, this is extra thick stuff in one solid piece. I under-skinned the bottom of this section with fiberglass reinforced plastic sheeting for a smoother ride and further protection of the wood. The edges and gaps of this decking are sealed with tar tape. I designed this deck to last longer than I will.
The forward 8 feet are a composite decking. I did this because it looks awesome and I wanted an extra durable place for my kids and dog to board and shake off sand and water. It’s completely unique. The gaps are routered in with a high density plastic sheeting for extra stability between rafters You will also find this decking on the rear access pad outside of the gate.
The railings were also disassembled, the paneling removed, decals and paint removed and sanded, buffed and polished. The panels were sprayed with high quality boat paint. I have some more in the can you can have too.
All the lights on the boat have been replaced and rewired. The batteries are new. It has two brand new premium 10 foot Biminis with 1.25” square tubing. They fully collapse and have zippered covers. They also unzip off for easy washing. 600 denier outdoor fabric. These are expensive biminis. Not the cheap replacements.
Seating. I decided not to put seating on this boat. I like my deck to be modular and choose what I have on each outing. I’ve used outdoor furniture and it is perfectly safe to cruise around. Pontoon furniture is extremely expensive and only lasts 5 years at the most. What is on the deck is a box we built to house all the batteries, anchors, ropes, bumpers, life jackets, and extension pole-hook for docking (all included). As well as a tray for storing valuables. It is covered in matching thick marine grade vinyl. There is also a complementary box we built to house a portable toilet. This can sit next to the other one in front of the rear gate or move to another spot. For a captain’s chair I recovered a steel chair with matching vinyl. This allows you to be comfortable and flexible with your deck.
The console is a new plastic console with access panel on the back. I originally designed the boat to work with the original motor so the throttle was originally installed on the console but then I covered that hole with an acrylic patch when I put on the new motor. The console has a functioning speedometer, tachometer and new digital depth finder. The PSI meter was left over from the original motor. It isn’t hooked up to anything but I was thinking about replacing it with an accessory like a radio or something. If you don’t want it in there I can make you an acrylic patch to cover it. The switch panel with voltmeter and usb ports is new, there are several spots left to wire up your own additions. The horn and button is new. I have a few extra gauges I’m throwing in too.

The Motor:
Upgraded to this 1995 Mariner 2 stroke, oil-injection 115hp outboard. Originally owned by a helicopter pilot. The motor is absolutely clean and beautiful, recently worked on and brought to full working order. It was winterized last winter. I have a video of us starting it up on 4/10/21 that I can send to you if I can’t attach it to this listing somehow.
115hp is the max this transom is rated for. The throttle and harness that came with this motor have been installed. We built a mounting box for the throttle that is covered in matching vinyl. I was able to keep the original steering. I believe it has a power prop on it now. And the boat cruises comfortably around 20mph. I was thinking about putting a speed prop on it but I realized that 20mph is perfect because that allows me to cruise with my Biminis up and it’s plenty fast. This originally came with a 70hp Johnson motor which I think was standard at that time.

What it needs:
Well that’s up to you. If I kept this boat I would eventually replace the steps on the trailer to be one that’s easier for me to climb. The steps just unbolt and can be replaced. The emergency cutoff switch was faulty so I bypassed it and haven’t replaced it. It is still inside the console attached to it’s neutral connection so if you want one you can easily install a new one without having to figure out where it goes. And like a mentioned before you can replace the hydraulic brakes if you want to. I also haven’t replaced the capacity plate on it yet. I’m going to look for my photos of the original and make a new one. Keep in mind the weight limits are taking 500 pounds of furniture into account too. We are currently working on replacing the bearing caps on the trailer. (one is missing).
