Seller's description
We Are Giving Our Dream Away
This project was an accumulation of ideas, dreams and actual experience.
We have lived in Key West for over 30 years. Closing in on retirement we realized that to enjoy our retirement would require a plan to adjust our cost of living. Living in Key
West as us locals know for normal people is a struggle at best. Rent, groceries, cost of
utilities are expensive.
So we decided to build a fully sustainable boat. Solar powered, electric propulsion, able
to produce water as needed.
When we first arrived in Key West, we lived offshore. We anchored west of Christmas
Tree Island for two years. And we loved the serenity of living there but didn't like the
daily grind of hauling water and laundry. We didn't have enough power for air conditioning. We tried different options to generate power but on a 34 ft. sailboat space was not
available for a decent system and fuel would make it an expensive endeavor. So we
moved into Garrison Bight Marina and lived there for 25 years.
So this project is a 36' catamaran with 7,000 watts of solar, 800 AMP 48 volts Life
PO4 battery bank, 6500 watt all in one inverter, 2 x 6000 watt E propulsion electric
outboards with complete hydraulic steering, 400 AMP 12 volt battery bank for lighting and marine items, including a 1500 watt windlass with 5/16 and 3/8 gypsy and capspan for line.
The 12 volt has it's own 600 watt solar system.
Also a 4 tube 2.5 x 40” water maker, capable of making over 100 gallons per hour.
The above/listed; is what is for sale. The boat is 90 percent complete. Comes with it. The technology is expensive and isn't completely installed because once it is in operation, it starts to losing it's cycles life.
We are including all of our tools, supplies, materials to finish.
We have to leave to support and be close to our daughter-in-law and two granddaughters after our son's tragic death.
The boat is located on the west corner of 3D Boatyard across from the Stock Island Marina
The boat was designed to be livable on the hard. (for you landlubbers, that means on the land) With 2 mini splits/ a 7.5 cubic freezer, 11.5 refrigerator and complete electric galley. It includes a full size washing machine. Also a 2O gallon marine water heater with heat exchanger could possible be used with solar to heat water.
The interior is 95% complete. We had to move into boatyard, after selling our old boat in Garrison Bight.
The new owner could also live aboard in the yard while completing the boat.
This vessel would be a great platform for any offshore venture: teaching eco work or an Air Bnb. It has 2 rooms. The bedroom has a queen sized Murphy bed. And the main
salon area has a convertible sleeper sofa. (also queen size)
The deck has an 8 ft outside bar with 4 windows that have accordion hinges that allows
the 2' x 8' opening. The LED 36” TV is mounted on a big swinging arm, when you pull
it to face the back deck, you can watch movies while sitting outside. It would also be great for teaching. Or game day.
This would make a great Man Cave. Docked in a canal behind your home. No worries about the power outages that many of our storms create. Or anchored out as a get away.
So much to list, all the power tools.. a lot of Milwaukee, and hand tools, etc. That are not listed here; but visible when you come to see the boat.
We need to leave very soon. If we do not receive any serious offers we will start to sell the tools, etc. to be able to move.
This is a once in a lifetime chance to take control of many aspects of your life.
