1984 34’ Hunter sloop

Selling our great hunter 34. This is a good performing light air boat, perfect for puget sound. 1984 was the first year of the updated larger rudder that solves some of the earlier complaints of weather helm generated by the very tall high powered sail rig. This boat has been carefully maintained and updated over the years to serve as a fun and reliable vessel with an emphasis on simplicity and performance.
This 1984 Hunter has a spacious 3 cabin layout with a modified interior featuring a u shaped settee (rather than the factory dinette) and a custom pedestal mount bifold hardwood table that greatly improves below deck accommodation and flexibility over stock hunter 34’s. We have owned this vessel for the last decade and have had a blast with her.
Best features: aforementioned large well laid out interior. Wheel steering with an upgraded globemaster compass, raymarine wheel pilot, furling headsail, Basic instruments include: Garmin Gps, newer Icom masthead vhf. Raymarine wind speed and direction instruments and depth sounder. Nice stereo below deck w usb and amplifier sounds great. Sail handling is easy and convenient w self tailing 2 speed primary winches. A Dutchman sail management system w custom sail cover to allow the Dutchman monofilament lines to remain in place while the sail is stowed makes solo sailing a breeze, this is a great system much better than lazy jacks. All lines lead aft through clutches.
Notable recent improvements and updates include: recently re stitched dodger w new forward facing windows and window covers. Auto pilot. 3 blade max prop, good sails w a nicely set up reefing system that includes in boom reefing lines and clutches. Good sails w double reef pints on the main Iron keel looked great at last haul out (2022) w no corrosion problems needing attention. Head is clean and spacious w a shower , raritan toilet serviced w a pump rebuild, all new waste hoses and tank cleaned. New hot water heater works flawlessly on shore power as well as engine heat. Newer main salon cushions and upholstery. Galley has an updated sink fixture w pull out spray handle, deep 2 basin sink. Gimbaled 2 burner propane stove/oven and a spacious well insulated ice box. All Portlights have had seals replaced and this boat is dry below decks all winter! Espar diesel forced air heat is currently blowing cold air and will need attention. Gimbaled bulkhead mounted oil lamp provides old world ambience. Companionway boards have been replaced by a large piece of plexi that cleverly stows out of the way atop the companionway slider, a huge upgrade over the original (included) fiddly wood stacking companionway boards. Cockpit comfort includes, lifeline cushions, a pair of click clack upholstered seats provide additional seating for 2 on the cockpit coaming creating room for 8. Sheltered by the generously scaled dodger.
Ground tackle is a Bruce anchor on a stout double roller w 30’ of galvanized chain and 150’ of rhode, marked at intervals, All ground tackle stows nicely in the generous anchor locker that is well laid out to hold an additional Danforth anchor and rhode as well as comfortable seated bracing for anchor hauling.
The freshwater cooled yanmar 3gm diesel runs smoothly, has had regular maintenance and is very reliable. New house and start batteries and a nice smart charging system added last year. We have really enjoyed this boat and are only selling to upgrade to a newer Hunter sister ship w a walk down transom.
